Philadelphia is one of my favorite cities in America, so you can imagine my excitement when I was brought in to document a Wedding there. To make things even more sweet, the Bride was a dear friend whom I met at a Wedding I had photographed in Chestnut Hill a few years back. Even more sweet?? Okay, I’ve got more. Ghalia and Matthew’s top priority for the Wedding Day was photography. With this, we arranged for a first look at the LOVE Fountain in John F. Kennedy Plaza AND it just happened to be on a weekend that the fountain water was dyed pink – in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Now that I know Matthew, I am inclined to say that HE arranged for that beautiful detail, but the jury is still out there 🙂
After the First Look, we budgeted 2 HOURS OF PHOTOGRAPHY of the couple at some of the most historic spots in Philadelphia: Love Park, City Hall, Boathouse Row and a few spontaneous spots in between. Boathouse Row on the Schuylkill River is of particular importance to the groom as he is a Nationally recognized Rowing Star. As humble as they come, Matthew would never tell you that. …but a little research and it’s clear. Dude is a STUD!
After our session – and discovering that the battery on Matthew’s car had died after leaving his hazards on for 2 hours (never a dull moment in the life of a Wedding Photographer) – we made our way into New Jersey for a ceremony and reception at Auletto’s Caterers. A touching, tear-filled ceremony and smokin’ dance party followed and well, this was seriously one for the books.
Too many thanks to mention to Ghalia and Matthew and their families for welcoming us with open arms. Your kindness and enthusiasm was heart-swelling. …and BIG thanks to Dave Jones of Empire West Photo for tagging along, navigating a massive storm on the way down and giving all that he had on the day of. You’re a gem, my friend.
